WORK EXPERIENCE:

 

Professional Nanny: 11.5 years

Here are some of the highlights of my time with each family that go beyond basic childcare, and are in alignment with each family’s values and goals:

​

          Sewell Family: continued from share through August 2025

  • After the other family's needs changed, I continued nannying for one Sewell family, including the addition of their second baby.

  • Coordinated playdates with the cousins and other neighborhood children to build social skills.

  • Worked through feeding challenges with the baby.

  • Supported the family through potty training each child.

  • Managed preschool drop-offs and pick-ups.

  • Filled the days with educational activities, especially affirming the older child's love of books with trips to the library and endless hours reading!

          Sewell & Sewell-Reido Families nanny share: November 2021 to August 2023

  • Cared for two cousins in a nanny share, starting at ages 13 months and 6 months.

  • Met the differing developmental needs of both children, including managing different nap schedules and eating routines.

  • Planned Covid-safe outdoor outings, educational activities and lots of sensory fun!

           The Mann-Platts Family: September 2020 to October 2021

  • Cared for the family's medically fragile child from the age of 11 months to 2 years old.

  • Maintained the family's COVID-19 policies in order to protect their child who has significant medical considerations.

  • Provided daily care and educational activities while maintaining a safe environment for their medically fragile child in the midst of a pandemic.

  • Worked with a physical therapist to help the child achieve gross motor goals, practicing skills and exercises recommended by the therapist.

            The Jancke family: March 2015 to September 2020

  • Cared for the family’s twins from age 5 months to 5 years when they started Kindergarten for 46.25 hours per week.

  • Both children were tongue tied and needed special care when it came to bottle feeding.

  • Accompanied the children to both physical and speech therapy, diligently practiced the activities prescribed by the therapists, saw great improvement and both children graduated from their respective therapies

  • Taught the children to ride a two-wheeled bike, pump a swing, swim without assistance, and tie their shoelaces.

  • Provided daily educational activities including reading, singing, and sign language; lots of conversation about daily activities, asking open ended questions; painting, a wide variety of planned sensory experiences, and a focus on independence, self-help skills, and problem solving.

            The Hughes family: September 2014 to March 2015

  • Cared for their three children, ages 7, 5, and infant for 45 hours per week.

  • Transported the older children to and from their respective schools

  • Helped to manage the special behavioral needs of the oldest child, while still providing excellent care to the other two children.

  • Planned fun and creative activities to meet the developmental needs of all 3 children. 

  • Planned meals and cooked dinner for the children and parents on a regular basis.

            The Seem family: January 2014 to August 2014

  • Cared for their infant from ages 4 to 11 months for 47.5 hours per week.

  • Helped baby learn to take a bottle that she previously refused, so mom could feel confident when traveling for work.

  • Responsible for all of the baby’s meal prep including homemade baby food.

  • Planned and facilitate play dates on a regular basis.

  • Provided daily educational activities including reading, singing, and sign language; lots of conversation about daily activities, asking open ended questions; painting, a wide variety of planned sensory experiences, and a focus on independence, self-help skills, and problem solving.

  • Participated with the baby in local music and movement classes and story times.  Plus other educational outings that include the library, grocery store, parks, and the zoo.

  • Traveled with the family and supported their move to a new home in a new state.

Bright Horizons Children’s Centers: 8.5 years

           Education Coordinator: August 2011 to January 2014

  • Implemented the World curriculum for a center of 200+ children, ages 6 weeks to 9 years.

  • Provided ongoing training to a staff of 55+ teachers.

  • Interviewed and hired new teachers as needed; reviewed and mentored teachers and addressed disciplinary issues as needed.

  • Organized and executed marketing events and regularly toured perspective families.

  • Assisted the Assistant Director in recruiting and enrolling new families to our center.

  • Effectively used proprietary computer systems and Microsoft computer programs

  • Managed staff hours, time off requests, and ordered supplies effectively to stay on budget.

  • Maintained all licensing, NAEYC, and center policies and helped our staff to do the same.

  • Responded to and guided staff through emergencies.

           Infant Teacher and Team Leader: May 2006 to August 2011

  • Cared for 8 infants, ages 6 weeks to 14 months in a classroom setting, in cooperation with a co-teacher.

  • Created and maintained professional working relationships with each of the parents and co-workers.

  • Maintained a clean and healthy learning environment that promoted independence and provided a strong sense of security.

  • Created lesson plans and maintained all appropriate documentation and paperwork as required by Bright Horizons, NAEYC, and Washington’s childcare licensing requirements.

Children’s Village Childcare and Preschool – A project of Little Red School House: 1.5 years

           Lead Infant and Toddler Teacher:  October 2004 to May 2006

  • Cared for 4 infants, ages 6 weeks to 12 months while also supervising an assistant teacher as she cared for 6 toddlers, ages 12 to 24 months.

  • The center’s partnership with Little Red School House meant we served a higher than average number of children with special needs, often working with therapists in the classroom to provide children with the best care.

  • Personally designed the environment of the infant classroom to meet the needs of both special needs and typically developing infants.

  • Maintained professional working relationships with each of the parents of the infant and toddler classes.

Perinatal Treatment Services: 1.25 years

            Therapeutic Infant Teacher: July 2003 to October 2004

  • Responsible for a classroom of nine infants ages 6 weeks to walking at a ratio of three children per adult. Many of the infants were born drug addicted and/or had other special needs, and all were high risk.

  • In addition to the day-to-day infant care I was also responsible for the developmental screenings (Denver II, and Ages and Stages Questionnaire,) parent/teacher conferences every 2 weeks, and parent participation in the co-op.

  • Infant Feeding Specialist certification by ProDoula (2019)

  • Child Passenger Safety Technician certification by Safe Kids (2015 and renewed every 2 years)

  • Infant, Child, Adult First Aid/CPR, Blood borne pathogens certification (renewed every 2 years)
